How To Achieve Your 2016 Fitness Resolutions!

New Year goals or resolutions - a word cloud on a vintage slated blackboard

At the beginning of the New Year, gyms across the nation will be crowded, and personal trainers will be booked with people who want to change their bodies for the good!  Some will actually achieve the change they desire, others will not!

I want to give you a couple simple tips on how to achieve your fitness resolutions for 2016.

Make a List: Whatever your fitness resolution is, the first step is to write it down!

Keep first things first, get out a pen or open a word document and make a list of your fitness resolutions.  Everyone has different goals, some people want to lose fat, others just want to have a six pack, and some want to add some muscle!

Plan it All Out: Those who don’t plan, plan to fail!

Don’t be mistaken, working out is not just about your gym time!  For you to succeed with your resolution you will have to factor in and plan for all aspects of training

Nutrition: Nutrition is the first thing you will have to understand and know how to manipulate to reach your specific fitness resolution(s). There’s a particular eating plan for every fitness goal, from adding muscle to getting lean.  Find it out and follow it!

Workout: Some will just walk/run on the treadmill; others will pick the machines that aren’t occupied, push and pull a little then go home. Several weeks later they both will be nowhere near success. Your workouts should include more than the treadmill, and be a little more complicated than picking the machines that are free!

Rest: Muscle grows when its resting, and believe it or not, you burn a lot of fat resting too! So factor it in, rest days and plenty of sleep are in order if you want to reach your fitness resolution.

In Conclusion, write down your resolution, then make a detailed plan of your nutrition, workouts and times of rest that will enable you to accomplish your goals!

Additional thoughts:

  • Accomplishing your fitness resolutions is possible!
  • Write down clearly what you want to do.
  • Fitness is holistic, it’s not just about the gym.
  • Dream big, but start with baby steps.
  • Create small, weekly challenges; when you conquer them celebrate!
  • Make a list and title it “Victories”, and add to it every challenge you’ve Conquered
